Schoolchildren lead more than 1,500 participants in Freedom Walk<\/h2>\n

More than 1,500 people – most of them schoolchildren from Holy Family Catholic Academy and Chester Nimitz Elementary School – took part in the third Freedom Walk this morning.<\/p>\n

The 1 1\/2-mile walk along Main Street near Hickam Air Force Base, is organized by Operation Homefront, a nonprofit that provides assistance to military families. The walk serves as the organization’s memorial to 9\/11.<\/p>\n

Also participting were members of Honolulu International Airport’s TSA personnel, Honolulu firefighters and police officers, members of the VFW and other veterans.<\/p>\n
