March 1, 2010<\/strong><\/p>\n56th anniversary of the \u2018Bravo\u2019 nuclear blast<\/strong><\/p>\nHawaii State Capitol Rotunda<\/strong><\/p>\n10:00 am \u2013 1:00 pm<\/strong><\/h2>\nAll are invited to this solemn commemoration of the \u2018Bravo\u2019 nuclear test in remembrance of the survivors of the 67 nuclear blasts conducted by the U.S. in the Marshall Islands between 1946 and 1958. This occasion marks the 56th year since Marshallese people on Rongelap and Utrok atolls were exposed to radioactive fallout from the U.S. hydrogen bomb test code-named ‘Bravo’. Bravo’ was 1000 times more powerful than the A-bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima. The radioactive legacy of the U.S. nuclear tests conducted in the Marshall Islands continues to wreak havoc on the health of Marshallese\u00a0 people and all Micronesians.<\/p>\n
Special invited guests include the Honorable Jurelang Zedkaia, President of the Republic of the Marshall Islands<\/strong> (to be confirmed) and retired UH Professor Beverly Keever<\/strong>, author of News Zero<\/em>.\u00a0 Survivors will tell their stories, and allies will share their thoughts.<\/p>\nCoordinated by RMI Consulate Office and ERUB II (Enewetak, Rongelap, Utrok and Bikini, the 4 atolls that were directly impacted by the U.S. military nuclear test program in 1946-1958).<\/p>\n
