{"id":8569,"date":"2011-03-13T16:21:12","date_gmt":"2011-03-14T00:51:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dmzhawaii.org\/?p=8569"},"modified":"2011-03-13T16:21:12","modified_gmt":"2011-03-14T00:51:12","slug":"sailor-struck-and-killed-on-h-1-freeway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dmzhawaii.org\/?p=8569","title":{"rendered":"Sailor struck and killed on H-1 freeway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.staradvertiser.com\/news\/breaking\/117905984.html\">Honolulu Star Advertiser<\/a> reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Honolulu vehicular homicide investigators are  looking for one vehicle \u2014 and possibly others \u2014 that hit and killed a  21-year-old Navy sailor walking on the H-1 freeway then fled the scene  early this morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">A 2007 Nissan Altima driven by a 22-year-old,  Mililani man also hit the sailor but did stop and called police around  2:17 a.m., police said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Investigators are still trying to determine why  the sailor was walking in the west-bound lanes of the H-1 just before  the Makakilo off-ramp. They don&#8217;t know whether drugs or alcohol were  involved.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The sailor was hit by one vehicle that fled the  scene and possibly by another vehicle that also fled, police said.
