The United States of Hypocrisy – by Ken O’Keefe

Check out this 15-part video series on YouTube by Ken Nichols O’Keefe about the U.S. occupation of Hawai’i. It’s from 2001, but it is still very relevant to the issues today.   Ken is a Gulf War Vet who served in the Marines. He became an advocate of the environment and Hawaiian rights.  As a veteran, he brought an intensity when he spoke against the abuses of the military in Makua, in the sea with proposed Low Frequency sonar, and other struggles.  When the Iraq War broke out, Ken traveled to Iraq on a human shield mission.   I don’t know where Ken is right now. But these videos were posted on YouTube this year.   It was refershing to watch the closing credits on the 15th episode where the only hearing held in Hawai’i on the so-called Akaka Bill for federal domestic dependent nation status for Kanaka Maoli was disrupted by audience  members who denounced the bill as a betrayal of Hawai’i’s right to real sovereignty.  Rep. Abercrombie threatened to remove the hecklers but ended up calling a recess in frustration.
